At the ImmoAwards 2025 ceremony in Berlin, the best in the real estate industry were honoured in six categories. The first regional award in the developer category, presented by a jury of independent industry experts in combination with an extensive customer vote, goes to BUWOG.

A total of 42 nominees qualified for the ImmoAward 2025 on the basis of their excellent performance, customer focus and expertise. These three criteria were each weighted equally in the selection of the winner. At the award ceremony in Berlin on 6 November, BUWOG was named Developer of the Year. BUWOG has a long history, having been founded in Vienna in 1951. BUWOG has been active on the German market since 2010 and specialises in new residential construction and neighbourhood development. In Berlin, BUWOG is constructing, among other things, the BUWOG WOHNWERK development in Niederschöneweide, the BUWOG SET 44 project at the historic Geyer Works in Neukölln and the 52° Nord (only in German) development, a sustainable sponge city with approximately 1,000 apartments, a daycare centre, a waterfront promenade, a local square with a café, and a sustainable retention basin for utilising rainwater. This development has just been awarded the gold certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB).

The ImmoAward 2025 is organised by Immobilienscout24, Germany’s number one real estate portal. The award in the developer category was presented by jury member Anaïs Cosneau from Happy Immo Club (only in German) to BUWOG Managing Director Eva Weiß and Thomas Mahler, director of development. Anaïs Cosneau: “BUWOG demonstrates how sustainable neighbourhood development can be achieved on a large scale and sets the standard for premium multi-storey residential construction in the region. BUWOG is also a positive stand-out on the market with its distinctive brand, transparent communication and target group-oriented social media activities.”

Daniel Riedl, Vonovia management board member responsible, among other things, for BUWOG development in Germany: “We are delighted that BUWOG has been named Developer of the Year 2025. Good teamwork is crucial in development, especially when it comes to large and complex neighbourhood developments – which is why the ImmoAward is also a demonstration of the solution-oriented approach and passion with which our BUWOG teams plan, implement and successfully market new construction projects.”

BUWOG has approximately 55,000 apartments under construction and in planning nationwide. At least 20 percent of these will be timber constructions. The BUWOG HYGGEHÖFE development in Berlin, which is one of Germany’s largest timber construction projects from a single source, is about to be completed. Serial, modular, systemic construction is also playing an increasingly significant role for BUWOG. BUWOG is currently carrying out two sustainable redensification projects in Berlin using the GROPYUS system, one on Hildegardstraße in Charlottenburg and the other on Schlichtallee in Lichtenberg.
