  • Art in architecture as added value for society
  • New online presence serves to promote and draw attention to artists and their projects

BUWOG has been shaping the residential market in Austria and Germany with residential solutions that are contemporary and adapted to the needs of people for over 70 years. The company designs, develops and manages residential locations with the future in mind and refurbishes historic architectural gems to create homes for the generations. As an integrative element, art in all its facets generates added value that creates a distinctive identity, connects people, lends residential projects their individual character, and illuminates BUWOG’s corporate philosophy. For example, BUWOG’s Customer and Administrative Centre showcases contemporary works of object and visual art and regularly hosts exhibitions to bring art to life for our employees, customers and cooperation partners. Together with outstanding architects, art in architecture projects and artistic installations, BUWOG actively designs public space, thereby lending character to cityscapes as well. As a leading full-service provider in the residential property business, BUWOG also aims to revitalise historic building fabric in the spirit of preservation and to make them usable for contemporary living.

“For us, the integration of art in residential buildings represents an opportunity for extended communication. Art can take people out of their daily routines, stimulate their thoughts and senses and sustainably enrich life in the building it occupies. Collaboration with renowned artists and well-known architects creates value for generations,” says Andreas Holler, managing director responsible for project development at BUWOG. “We are convinced that art and culture make a significant contribution to the quality of life of a society, which is why have made a conscious commitment to these areas.”

“We promote established and up-and-coming works from a variety of genres and create spaces that encourage people to experience, reflect on and engage in dialogue about art – out of our conviction that art not only makes our projects more beautiful, but it also makes them more liveable,” Vonovia CDO Daniel Riedl adds. “With the launch of our new website, we are delighted to give our art activities and the outstanding artists we work with the stage they deserve.”

Eva Weiß, managing director of BUWOG, adds: “BUWOG stands for attractive and neighbourhood developments featuring an open design. In numerous locations, this also includes fascinating art projects that can now be discovered not only live on site in the development, but also in the online world.”

Separate website shifts focus to art activities

The BUWOG Bau und Kunst website not only highlights our numerous years of art-related activities but also offers a stage for the substantial number of artists who bring art to life in with their works at BUWOG locations. buk.buwog.com (only in German) is now a contact point and source of information for art enthusiasts, artists and the general public. The modern website combines user-friendly design with a focus on aesthetics and, with the Contemporary and Historical sections, represents the two pillars of BUWOG’s art activities. Under Contemporary you will find all the art stories that BUWOG Bau und Kunst has already realised in the categories Art, Exhibition, Sponsoring and Cooperation, those that are currently being created, and those that are already being considered in future real estate projects. The category Historical shows the listed villas, apartment buildings, industrial and municipal buildings that BUWOG has renovated, refurbished and/or revitalised over the past 30 years in keeping with their style and which now serve as homes again for numerous people. For BUWOG creates more than just residential space – through its commitment to art, it provides architectural inspiration and brings life to the places we live. Further information: buk.buwog.com.
