Construction begins for the BUWOG KILIANsHÖHE residential neighbourhood in Kilianstädten

The building permit is here – now the work can begin: BUWOG is commencing construction of the new BUWOG KILIANsHÖHE neighbourhood in Kilianstädten. Housing comprising 82 condominiums and a variety of sustainable qualities will be developed here. Completion is scheduled for 2022.

The cranes will soon be in action in Kilianstädten: BUWOG, which specialises in new residential construction, is beginning the BUWOG KILIANsHÖHE project. Starting in April 2021, 82 condominiums will be built on a site in Hanauer Straße in Kilianstädten. The neighbourhood will provide total floor area of around 6,500 square metres.

Ranging in sizes of approximately 45 to 109 square metres, the two- to four-room apartments will be distributed across eight buildings. Each condominium will have a terrace, balcony or private garden. 16 apartments will be accessible barrier-free. In the associated underground car park with 108 parking spaces, charging facilities for electric cars will be installed in six of the spaces. Lifts will take residents from the underground car park to nearly all residential floors. There are also three outdoor parking spaces.

The eight apartment buildings will have two or three floors plus a staggered floor and comply with the EnEV 2016 Level II energy standard. The somewhat staggered arrangement of the buildings, varying building heights and slight incline will result in an attractive view from the apartments. At the same time, the buildings will feature a distinctive architecture and façade structure with clinker brick and other elements. The rooftops will be extensively greened, which improves the urban climate, provides a natural cooling effect in summer, has an insulating effect and is a habitat for native birds and valuable pollinator insects such as wild bees and butterflies. BUWOG is also developing specially designed outdoor facilities with play areas for children as well as space for gathering and relaxation.

Other sustainability aspects: with their positive ecological footprint, the windows will be sourced from the region. This secures local jobs and reduces CO2 emissions by shortening production and delivery routes. When selecting the building materials used, the focus is already placed on sustainable materials during the tendering process, thus concrete from climate-neutral production and FSC-certified wood are used.

Jessica Hesse-Kadlec, BUWOG’s site manager for the western region:

"We are delighted that, for those seeking housing here in the middle of the Rhine-Main region, we’re able to develop high-quality housing with an attractive design and amenities concept, which accommodates the housing needs of young professionals, families as well as older people.”

As a district in the municipality of Schöneck, Kilianstädten is one of the 55 municipalities of the "Großer Frankfurter Bogen" growth initiative and is located within a 30-minute radius of Frankfurt am Main. Particular focus is to be placed on the development of new housing and the corresponding infrastructure in this area. At the same time, it is part of a state development programme for housing and urban development in the Rhine-Main metropolitan area, in which space for new housing is being developed under the auspices of the Hessian Ministry of Economics, including BUWOG KILIANsHÖHE.
